Velaflame started when Entrepreneur Ken Bretschnider began looking for realistic flame bulbs for his theme park Evermore. After an exhaustive search Ken reached out to Kyler Tolman, a mechanical engineer to see if he could develop a flame bulb with a moving mechanical flame element. After some early prototypes that proved the concept would work, Kyler reached out to his former Alumni at BYU, to assemble a team of engineering students to research and further develop the technology. From 2021-2022 this team used their creative problem solving skills to help create a patented technology that puts our flameless technology leaps and bounds ahead of existing flameless bulbs.
Because of the great work the student team provided, we decided to work with a second BYU student team from 2022-2023 but this time with the focus being on the mobile App. This team of BYU software engineering students developed the basis of the firmware and mobile app that we use today.
